Growing up in Vermont, Professor Jessica Miles鈥檚 family struggled financially. 鈥淔rom a young age, I was always very concerned with issues related to poverty and income inequality. It spurred my interest in government and politics. By the time I was a teenager, I was actively working on political campaigns.鈥

Biography
Professor Jessica Miles joined the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 蜜桃工作室 in 2023. She teaches Evidence, Family Law, Torts, and Domestic Violence Law. Haub Law鈥檚 graduating class of 2026 selected Professor Miles to receive the Barbara C. Salken Outstanding Professor of the Year Award.
Professor Miles previously served on the faculty of Seton Hall University School of Law where directed the Family Law Clinic and taught Evidence, Domestic Violence Law, Family Law, Persuasion & Advocacy, Torts, and Adoption Law. She was voted Professor of the Year by the Seton Hall Law student body in 2022 and 2017. In addition, she was selected as Seton Hall University Teacher of the Year in 2020.
Professor Miles鈥檚 scholarship focuses on legal issues related to domestic violence and has been published in the Cardozo Law Review, University of Miami Law Review, University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law, Seton Hall Law Review, and Thomson Reuters' Women and the Law. She is also a co-author of a casebook, namely Domestic Violence and the Law: Theory and Practice (West Academic, 4th ed., forthcoming 2027) with Elizabeth Schneider, Emily Sack, and Natalie Nanasi.
Prior to entering academia, Professor Miles gained practice experience as a public interest lawyer focusing on domestic violence and family law. She represented indigent clients with nonprofit organizations in Florida, Maryland, and Pennsylvania as well as with the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Massachusetts.
