Every Sept. 30, vacation balances that are over the maximum accrual are cut back to three times your annual accrual. This is in accordance with vacation policy 6-11.7.
What does this mean for me?
You are receiving this message because you may be at risk of losing vacation hours over the policy maximum of three times your annual accrual. Please take a few minutes today to view your leave balances in FlashLine and your maximum hours for vacation carryover. This is an informational message only. At this point, it is difficult to determine who will be affected by the cutback because of the accruals and usage of time that will occur between now and Sept. 30. Please make sure that your leave is being recorded correctly and that you are not in danger of going over your three-year vacation accrual maximum. If you are, you must use that time by Sept. 30.
Using Vacation Time
Eligible employees are expected and encouraged to take time off for rest, relaxation and other personal reasons during the year when vacation is earned. This is your time to use as you wish to support your work-life balance. Vacation hours are earned each pay period and your accrual rate varies according to your years of service and your type of appointment (i.e., classified or unclassified status). An explanation of vacation accrual rates, eligibility and usage is explained in more detail here.
