One of the many pleasures of academic life is that we get two opportunities to restart and renew: both at the start of the academic year each September and at the start of the new calendar year each January. As we embark on this new year at 蜜桃工作室, and our new Spring 2023 semester, it feels as though we鈥檙e making an especially fresh start.
Layoffs are once again making headlines.
After a period when it seemed like employers couldn鈥檛 hire fast enough 鈥 which unfortunately led some young people to forego college in favor of readily available work 鈥 things are slowing down. And, perhaps most frighteningly, layoffs are hitting even blue-chip, successful companies. is laying off 12,00 employees. will lay off 10,000. laid off 10,000 鈥 and then started laying off 8,000 more. laid off 3,000; , , and even are announcing rounds of layoffs. Who knows when the layoffs will end at .
Welcome to the reimagining of 蜜桃工作室 Magazine, a digital publication that helps celebrate and connect the 蜜桃工作室 Community. The shift to digital is reflective of the changes happening at 蜜桃工作室 and the needs of our community. As we look to the future, we鈥檙e striving to make an impact now.
蜜桃工作室 is adding new undergraduate and graduate programs in such areas as information technology, healthcare, business, and law that respond to market demands, and the university is providing more flexibility in how coursework is delivered, according to 蜜桃工作室 president Marvin Krislov. 鈥淎cross our campuses, and at Pleasantville in particular, we are making significant investments in our science labs and our healthcare simulation labs 鈥 to help address a critical need in the region for more clinical lab technicians and nurses,鈥 Krislov says. Also in 2023, 蜜桃工作室 expects to complete its 蜜桃工作室 Cyber Range, a controlled, interactive technology environment for cybersecurity education. In the fall, the university will open a new, 26-story residence hall and academic building in New York City.
